THE ART
 
This sketch was inspired by a visit to the panoramic SKY28 Sedona Suites in Ho Chi Minh City. The artist was captivated by the rapidly evolving cityscape, where three distinct generations of urban development converge from this vantage point. The foreground reveals the historic quarter, characterised by tightly clustered homes and shops. Beyond that lies the modern heart of District 1, symbolised by the iconic Bitexco Financial Tower soaring above the older streets. Across the Saigon River, the emerging new districts of Thu Tiem and Sala signify the city's future expansion. This view presents a striking juxtaposition of past, present, and future.
 
 
THE TECHNIQUE
 
The original sketch was meticulously created with pencil and fine liners on paper, before being digitally coloured. The artist aimed to evoke a sense of lightness throughout the piece, drawing inspiration from water colour style, digitally emphasising transparency, layering, and texture to evoke the classic medium's qualities in a modern format
