THE ART
 
Yinglong, the winged dragon rain deity, holds a unique position in ancient East Asian mythology as the only dragon endowed with wings and the ability to fly. Revered for its command over rain and storms, Yinglong symbolizes the vital forces of nature and agricultural prosperity. In this artistic representation, the traditional dragon scales have been replaced with lotus motifs, symbolizing purity and conveying a sense of optimism for the future. THE TECHNIQUE
 
The original sketch was meticulously created with pencil and fine liners on paper, before being digitally coloured. The artist aimed to evoke a sense of lightness throughout the piece, drawing inspiration from water colour style, digitally emphasising transparency, layering, and texture to evoke the classic medium's qualities in a modern format.
